Dr. Mark Clifford is a dynamic and versatile leader with a unique blend of military, academic, and non-profit experience. He grew up in a military family and retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel; he served 20 years as a Logistics Readiness Officer in high-pressure roles including Director of Fuel Operations for Air Force 1, two-time logistics squadron commander and lead logistics officer for a Joint Special Operations Command unit. His military career included multiple combat tours and time on the Joint Staff at the Pentagon. As a coach and administrator at the Air Force Academy, Dr. Clifford led the boxing team to 4 National Titles, 21 individual National Champions, and over 30 All-Americans. He currently serves as the head boxing coach at the Air Force Academy. His coaching philosophy emphasizes discipline, teamwork, and peak performance.
In academia, Dr. Clifford built a thriving sports management program at Grand Canyon University, growing enrollment to over 800 students. He developed strategic partnerships with professional sports organizations to support student growth and learning. He has also served as the Executive Director of a non-profit organization that mentors students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, providing access to real-world sports operations and industry professionals.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in general science from the United States Air Force Academy, his master's degree in Human Resource Management from The University of Maryland, University College, earned his doctorate in Sports Administration from the University of New Mexico. Dr. Clifford is a respected consultant with experience that spans operational leadership, team building, program development, human resource management, sports management and strategic partnerships. He brings a unique perspective and skill set to help organizations achieve their goals and reach new heights.
